The course begins with a compulsory Awareness unit: Know Yourself PART 1. This is an experiential course run by the Anglican Counselling Service (Diocese of Armidale) in centres across North-West NSW each year. 25 hours attendance are required, usually on 4 Saturdays or 6-8 weekdays. Please contact ACS (02) 6765 2527 for information on when and where the Know Yourself Course is being held. If you have a group (minimum of 6) who would like to do the course, we may be able to organise for the course to come to you. People who wish to continue with counselling training then enrol with LRCCS to complete unit 100 -4 About Awareness - Know Yourself PART 2 which studies the theory of awareness, based on the practical experiences completed in Know Yourself PART 1. An enrolment form for entry into LRCCS and application forms for units are available from this site. Completed forms with payment are returned to:
Arrangement may be made for paying each unit by instalment. EFTPOS and Credit Card payments may be made by phoning (02) 6765 2527 or in person at the Anglican Counselling Service, Cnr Ebsworth and Bridge Sts, Tamworth. Please make cheques out to LRCCS, or to Lois Reid College of Counselling Studies. If paying by cash or cheque you can call in to the LRCCS Office at 88 Bridge Street, Tamworth. Students are able to enrol in subjects at a time that suits them to study, there are no fixed semesters. Once the prerequisite unit Know Yourself PART 2 is completed the general units may be commenced at any time: more than one unit may be studied at a time. Most units take 20 weeks to complete (26 weeks maximum time allowed). Tutorial assistance is available by phone or by personal attendance at Tutorials (non compulsory) which are run in 4 centres in the North-West. These consist of Theory and Practical work. Practical work done at Tutorials is counted towards the hours needed for the practical requirements. There is a Monthly Student Newsletter (What's It) which reminds students when and where tutorial groups are being held as well as information from the library, markers and the Principal. As students are starting and finishing units at various times, we ask that with the final assignment submitted for each unit students fill out a Unit Exit Report. This form helps us in our student processing, and reminds the student to return material borrowed from the College for use in the unit finished. We also ask that a Unit Evaluation Form be completed to enable us to fine tune our course.
