| Inaugural Graduation of students of The Lois Reid College of Counselling Studies.19 graduating students will receive the first awards (Bachelor of Counselling Studies and Diploma in Counselling Studies) from the Lois Reid College of Counselling Studies (Anglican Counselling Training Course). The ceremony will take place at the Armidale Anglican Parish Centre at 2 pm on 26th November 2005. Rt Rev Ray Smith, formerly a clergy man in this diocese (now retired Bishop of South Sydney) will present the Testamurs and give an address. It was he who invited Lois Reid to commence a counselling service in the North West with the idea of training local rural people to counsel rural people. Dr Bill Grant formerly of UNE, and a member of the Higher Education Board of NSW, will deliver the other address. The course has been training counsellors for 19 years. Many of the students of the course continue to fill positions in the helping professions in this area. In 2003 the course was accredited with the Department of Education and Training as an Undergraduate Degree with a shorter Diploma. The Lois Reid College of Counselling Studies has its head office in Tamworth with tutors situated in Moree, Inverell, Armidale and Uralla. Over 60 students are currently enrolled, mostly from the New England and North West, but some from Sydney, Brisbane and the mid-north coast.
