In July of 2003 the Anglican Counselling Service's training arm, the Armidale Diocese Anglican Counselling Training Service (ADACTS) was approved by the Higher Education Board to deliver programmes of study leading to a Diploma in Counselling Studies (DipCounStud) and a Bachelor of Counselling Studies (BCounStud). To reflect the accredited nature of the Diploma and Degree, it was suggested that ADACTS, which has trained counsellors in this region for a number of years, become a College of Study. With much deliberation it was decided to name the new college the Lois Reid College of Counselling Studies in honour of Lois Reid who started the Anglican Counselling Service in Tamworth in 1986, and has been responsible for the training of many Counsellors in the district. Lois is still involved in Counsellor education being a tutor for students in the Inverell region. The Principal of the College, Mrs Jenny Regan, is hoping to organise an official function to recognise this momentous change.
