Dear All

It’s time again to write a “What’s it” ….What already! Is anyone reading them?  Well I’m not sure about that but here we go for August.

Practicals … Practicals … Practicals

The 4 day practicum in Inverell last month was a great learning experience’ for the 11 to 13 students (and 1 baby) who braved the cold of winter in Inverell to delve more into the depths of counselling practice. It was my first residential and I learned a lot as well.

I particularly enjoyed meeting the students who’s names I have heard so often and discovering the person behind the name.  We ate lots of delicious Lois soups and absolutely filled the fridge with left overs when we all brought a plate for dinner one night.

Practical Units

Tamworth

There is a Tamworth Practical beginning this Saturday 9th August.  The regular group met for the  July tutorial and decided on Practical days that consisted of Friday night followed by all day Saturday.  This suited the 9 to 5 workers and may suit some students from outlying areas who need to make up practical hours for their practical units.

The dates for these weekends are as follows:

Just Saturday to start—August 9th

Then  August 22nd and 23rd

  September 12th and 13th

   October 10th and 11th

  October 24th and 25th

  November 7th and 8th.

There are 10 students enrolled to begin and we would welcome extras when you can join us.

All practical attendances will be credited with chits that will count to your total practical requirements.

Students who are not studying a Practical subject may continue to attend the Tutorial sessions alongside the Practicum students from 9.00 to 12.00.

Uralla

The Uralla “Know Yourself Course” has been running  on Saturdays with Lynn.

The next Tutorial date is Friday August 15 at Uralla.

Armidale

Tutorials occur on the 1st, 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 9.30 to 11.30 with Lyn at the Armidale Anglican Counselling Centre.

Moree

Wendy will conduct the next Tutorial day on 23rd August where the dates for future tutorials will be decided by the group

The Moree “Know Yourself Course” begins on October 11 and is the last opportunity folks will have to begin their study with LRCCS this year.

Inverell

Lois runs a monthly Tutorial all day on the second Saturday of each month.

Residential Practicum

The final Residential Practicum for the year will occur in Inverell on the weekend of November 8 and 9.  The focus of this will be Emotion Inclusive Therapy. It will be very useful for all students beginning Counselling Theory 2 and Counselling Practice 2.  The Vicarage will again be available for lodgings and I can guarantee that it won’t be cold this time.

Library News

Lois has finished a complete list of the library books that are in the LRCCS library.  There is a copy of this list in each centre.  The best way to find a book is to check the local list, then ring Lyn if there is no local copy of the book you want.  Lyn will arrange for the book to be sent to you: ph 6778 4383 or 6772 9753

From the Desk

Ruth and Cheryl are now handling Course enrolments and payments for courses in Tamworth while Meryl handles Course Administration at the Training Centre in Tamworth and amongst other things helps organise this newsletter.

Assignments

First Level students’ assignments are to go to Lois at Inverell to be marked but Level 2 and Level 3 assignments are now to be sent to Jenny in Tamworth.

Plenary Day

The final Plenary Day for the year will coincide with the Inverell Tutorial Group’s Christmas Party on the 13th December. The Practicum group discussed likely locations for this but no final decision has been made.  Everyone is welcome to this end of your combined function.

Now that’s the news.

Best wishes,

 Jenny
