Dear All,

Having journeyed to the other side of Australia as well as to the top of it in the 3 weeks I was away I can only say what a varied and wonderful land we live in and what a great time I had.

It is also great to be back to home and friends and things familiar.

Tutorials and Practicals

Residential Practical

The Emotion Inclusive Residential Practical will occur in Inverell on the weekend of November 15 and 16 (my apologies for the wrong date in What’s It No 13). It will be very useful for all students beginning Counselling Theory 2 and Counselling Practice 2. The Vicarage will again be available for lodgings.

Plenary Day

The final Plenary Day for the year will coincide with the Inverell Tutorial Group’s Christmas Party on the 13th December in Inverell. Everyone is welcome to this end of year function at Inverell or thereabouts.

Tamworth

After the combined Practical last weekend when the students of the Art, Sand, Dreams and Drama Elective joined the regular Tamworth Practical group (and Ian from Moree) to explore some right brain counselling strategies, basic skills practice may seem tame ...however….

The Tamworth Practical Sessions continue to run on Friday night from 7-10 and Saturday from 9-4.

The dates for these weekends are as follows:

October 24th and 25th

November 7th and 8th.

Students who are not studying a Practical subject may continue to attend the Tutorial sessions which run concurrently with the Practical sessions from 9.00 to 12.00 on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

We will need to negotiate the December Tutorial date as the Final Plenary Day is on in Inverell that day

Uralla

There are no Practical Days at Uralla at present

Armidale

Tutorials take place on Thursdays from 10.00 to 12.00 with Lyn, at the Armidale Anglican Counselling Centre in Rusden Street.

Moree

Wendy will be conducting Tutorials on Tuesdays from 9-1 at the Anglican Counselling Centre on the following dates:

November 11

December 16

Inverell

Lois usually runs a monthly Tutorial all day on the second Saturday of each month but not (she wants to tell you) in November because of the 2 day EIT Practical on the following weekend.

The December practical day in Inverell will be the Plenary Day for all students.

LIBRARY NEWS

A complete list of the library books that are in the LRCCS library is at each centre. The best way to find a book is to check the local list, then ring Lyn if there is no local copy of the book you want Leave the Author and Title of the book on the answering machine as well as your name and address and. Lyn will arrange for the book to be sent to you. Her work phone number is 6772 9753 or fax her on 6778 3634

Many students find the local library or the internet a good source for reference material but don’t forget to record the data of your source for your Bibliography

FROM THE DESK

If you have any concerns about your work do ask me or the other tutors. It is best to make a time that suits both, whether by phone or in person as sometimes it is hard to concentrate when other things are happening.

ASSIGNMENTS

Since the last newsletter many of you have been working hard on your assignments…so hard that Lois is happily “up to her ears” marking them. This is great but may mean that you do not receive your work back as quickly as you would like, but it will come back.

Now that’s the news.

Best wishes,

 Jenny
