Dear All,Well this seems to be the busy end of the year with all the final things to do. The Practical weekend in Inverell was a great experience...see Lois’s enclosed note. The last organised LRCCS activity for the year will be the Plenary Day at Inverell. It’s on the 13th December. Everyone is welcome to this end of year function which will be held at the lovely residence of Leigh Forbes, an Inverell student of LRCCS. To get to Leigh’s place travel to Gilgai which is 10 km on the Bundarra Road from Inverell, then travel exactly 2 km along the Stannifer Road to Mailbox No 2 with the balloons. We’ll meet at 10.30 and each group will bring part of the meal. Tutorials 2003/04TamworthThe final Tutorial Day in Tamworth is set for Saturday 29th November 9.0—4.0. This replaces the usual 2nd Saturday as it clashes with the Plenary day in Gilgai/Inverell. We meet at the Anglican Counselling Training Centre at 88 Bridge Street (opposite Shopping World). ArmidaleThe final Tutorial for the year for the students around Armidale will be on Tuesday 9th December with Lyn (9.39—12.30). Lyn’s Armidale Tutorials will continue on the 2nd Tuesday in 2004. MoreeWendy will be conducting the final Moree Tutorial on Tuesday from 9-1 at the Anglican Counselling Centre on December 16. The Moree Tutorial dates will be the 3rd Tuesday each month in 2004. InverellLois has been running a monthly Tutorial all day on the second Saturday of each month. Next year this Tutorial will move to the 1st Saturday of the month The December Tutorial day in Inverell will be the Plenary Day for all students. Practicals in 2004We have decided not to begin any Practicals work until May/June next year. This means that all students need to organise their study programme to begin with a Theory Unit next year. Library NewsWe have received additional donations of library books which will soon be placed in the LRCCS Libraries. Lyn is the LRCCS librarian who will arrange for books to be sent to you. Her work phone number and fax is 6778 3634. Many students find the local library or the internet a good source for reference material. Don’t forget to note your internet source for your Bibliography and check the appropriate way to record this and all texts in your Introductory (green) Manual. From the DeskThere is a new schedule of course fees which will be sent to you as you enrol for your next subject. The costs of running the College are ongoing, like most things, and it is important that it stays viable to continue to function; so inevitably the fees have risen. We are seeking organisations who would be willing to offer scholarships to LRCCS students, or perhaps you could organise your own scholarship with a local organisation that is willing to sponsor you. AssignmentsI hope you are able to get your assignments completed and to the appropriate marker in good time to meet your course completion date. Lois marks all 1st year Assignments and 2nd Year compulsory subjects, I mark 2nd Year Electives and Catherine does the Communication Essays which we forward on to her. There appears to be some difficulty for students with the word count of some assignments, particularly the elective subjects. The word count on each assignment is meant to be a guide and an indication of how much work you are expected to do. You will not be penalised for not keeping within the word count. Now that’s the news.Best wishes,Jenny |
