Dear All,Welcome back. I hope you had a good break. It is so important to be still sometimes. I had the best family beach holiday for a long time. First the Good News:We have been notified that the LRCCS course is Centrelink approved. Students who meet the Income and Asset tests are now able to lodge applications for Austudy, Youth Allowance, Abstudy or the Pensioner Education Supplement. If you require proof of enrolment just contact the Administration Centre on 6762 5210 or 6765 2527. Practicals in 2004We are planning to run Practical Units in the second semester with 3 day residentials at Inverell and some Practical hours available at the other centres. Students will probably need to travel to a second centre to meet the 50 hours requirement for Practical subjects. Tutorials 2004InverellLois will conduct Tutorials in Inverell on the 1st Saturday of the month this year so the Inverell students will meet on the 7th February. ArmidaleThe first Armidale Tutorial will be on the 2nd Tuesday, February 10th from 9.00—12.00 at the Counselling rooms in the Anglican Registry on the corner of Faulkner and Rusden Streets. TamworthThe first Tutorial Day in Tamworth is set for Saturday 14th February 9.00—12.00. We meet at the Anglican Counselling Training Centre at 88 Bridge Street (opposite Shopping World). MoreeWendy will be conducting the first Moree Tutorial for 2004 on Tuesday from 9-1 at the Anglican Counselling Centre on 17th February. The Moree group will be discussing future Tutorial dates at this session. Library NewsLynn is the LRCCS librarian who will arrange for books to be sent to you if they are available in the library. The Library does not contain all the books in the Bibliographies for the courses. You are expected to use your connections and initiative when sourcing references. This Newsletter has a Book Order Form for you to copy for faxing requests to Lynn on 6772 9753 Internet SurfersPlease note the appropriate format for referencing material sourced on the Internet: Include the Author, Date, Title and Publication details, type of text, search engine and web site. From the DeskLois is reworking the course notes. The material in the course hasn’t changed but there may be differences between the books each of you receive. Just follow your book. A lot of work has gone into the preparation of the training material for the LRCCS course. If you are unable to continue the course we ask you to contact us to say goodbye, to tell us what was difficult for you so we can rectify any problems and to return course materials loaned to you. AssignmentsAlthough there are many students who have completed their course work ahead of time, a number of students have requested extensions to complete assignments from subjects begun last year. While I have acquiesced this time (I know that Lois was a gentle taskmaster) this is not going to become a habit of mine. The standards for an Undergraduate degree are such that you will all need to be conscious of meeting the due dates that are set when you enrol in each unit or repeat the Unit including Practical hours and payment. To work towards completing those outstanding assignments I would like all those who have assignments outstanding to send in one of the overdue assignments within the next 2 weeks ie by February 7. Now that’s the news.Best wishes,Jenny |
