Dear All,

It’s been exciting to receive all the assignments from the 40 plus students who have continued their studies with LRCCS this year. Please write the number of the assignment you are submitting on the cover sheet of the assignment, otherwise the recorder does not know which assignment to allocate the mark to.

Some of you have started the new elective subjects and I have been kept busy sorting out the inevitable glitches that bug anything when its new. Thanks, to those of you who have been affected by this, for your patience.

Lois and I are taking time, during the 10 days before Easter, to have a meander to friends and relatives down the South Coast of NSW and to swim (me). We will be back by Easter Tuesday.

Practicals in 2004

We are still planning to run Practical Units in the second semester this year with 3 day residential Practicals at Inverell and shorter Practicals at all the other centres. Each of these Practicals can involve students at all 3 Levels of Training.

For future reference Lois would like to know if the Long Weekends would be good times to hold the Inverell Practical Days. There are 4 long weekends: Australia Day in January, the Anzac weekend in April, the Queen’s birthday in June and the Labour Day weekend in October. Would any of these suit you? Lois can be contacted on Phone 6722 2279 and Fax 6722 5858.

Tutorials

Inverell

Lois will conduct Tutorials in Inverell on the 1st Saturday of the month so the Inverell students will have meet next on the 7th March. Lois will be away early April .

Armidale

The Armidale Tutorial has moved to accommodate students’ timetables and is now on Monday 9th March, from 9.00—12.00 at the Counselling rooms in the Anglican Registry. As the 2nd Monday in April will be Easter Monday the date of the next Tutorial is still in abeyance.

Tamworth

The Tutorial Day in Tamworth is set for Saturday 13th March 9.00—12.00. We meet at 88 Bridge Street. Catherine Hungerford will be taking the Tamworth group on April 3 (to avoid Easter) and May 8, when I have other commitments.

Moree

Wendy will be away all of March. Have a lovely time Wendy! After a Know Yourself Course of 18–19 people you and Donna have earned time. Wendy will return and conduct the Moree Tutorials on the 3rd Tuesday of the following months from 9-1 at the Anglican Counselling Centre. The Moree Tutorial dates are 20th April, 18th May and 15th June.

Library News

When students receive a photocopied article with their course material from LRCCS there is a legal requirement that a request form for this article be signed by the student and returned to the Librarian at PO Box W52, Tamworth. 2340. You may also request photocopies of journal articles which are in the LRCCS files.

From the Desk

I am often asked how long it takes to complete the course. This depends on which course you choose: the Diploma or the Degree.

To achieve the Bachelor Degree level requires 14 units of study which are to be completed in 6 years of part-time study (or 3 years full-time). Students need to study 2 to 3 units each year to remain within the time limit for part-time study (or 4 to 5 units per year to meet the requirements of full-time study ).

The Diploma, requires 8 Units of study (4 years of part-time study), and can be completed with 2 units of study each year.

I’m including a list of the Library Dewey Reference Numbers.

Happy reading!

 Jenny
