Dear All,The topic of how much practice is necessary for Counselling students is on the agenda at the PACFA Conference in Melbourne this week. The letters stand for Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia. This organisation is the accrediting body for counselling and counsellor training so sets the standards for the industry. On the subject of Practicals and Practice...it is important that all LRCCS students, whether studying Practical subjects or not, continue to practice the Microskills and the Counselling strategies (as you become familiar with them). It is really helpful to find a study partner or partners and meet regularly to practice. PracticalsThank you to the students who notified me that they were attending Tamworth Practical last weekend. It made planning much easier Inverell Practical/TutorialLois will run a 3 day Practical weekend from Friday night to Monday afternoon (30th September to 3rd October). You register by writing to Lois at PO Box 766 Inverell 2360 or ringing Lois on Ph 6722 2279. Tutorials in Inverell will continue on the first Saturday of each month at Lois’s place. Moree Practical/TutorialMoree Tutorials usually run on the 3rd Tuesday each month from 9 to 1 at the Counselling Centre. Wendy’s Phone No is 6752 3419. Uralla PracticalLynn will be running 2 Saturday Practicals on September 18 and October 23 from 9.30—4.00 in the Uralla Anglican Church Hall. The first will focus on Counselling Prac 2 exercises. The next Tutorial in the Anglican Counselling Rooms in Armidale is on 6th Sept (9 to 12) which is the 1st Monday in the month . Lynn’s can be contacted on Ph 6772 9753. Tamworth PracticalPracticals will run on Friday night and all day Saturday from 7—10 and 9—4.30
on the following weekends: The September session will include work on the Art, Sand, Dreams and Drama Unit as well as Microskill and E.I.T. practice Tutorial sessions for students doing Theory subjects will run from 9 to 12 on those dates as well. Library NewsThere are 2 new Library lists in each centre These list the books by Author. The smaller list is the books in your local LRCCS collection for you to check first. The larger list is the collection held in Tamworth. I am including LRCCS Library Request Forms for Books and Journal articles from Tamworth with this newsletter.
