Dear All,After working with a number of you at the most recent Practical/Tutorial days in Tamworth I think that we have some excellent counsellors-in-the-making currently studying the LRCCS course. The first step in becoming a good counsellor is being aware about what we do when interacting with others. This can be quite humbling when we notice what we do, compared to what is helpful, in a therapeutic interaction. It is the beginning of doing it differently. Awareness is a vital first step in making any change. The next important step is keeping our own agenda out of the interaction and allowing the client to lead while we follow. Another big task. Tutorial PracticalsHaving students notify the Tutors in the week before a Practical that they plan to attend enables the tutors to prepare appropriately— Late notice isn’t helpful. InverellThe form to register for the 3 day Practical weekend (30th September to 3rd October) is on the other side of this newsletter Tutorials in Inverell will continue on the first Saturday of each month at Lois’s place. Moree Practical/TutorialMoree Tutorials usually run on the 3rd Tuesday each month from 9 to 1 at the Counselling Centre. Wendy’s Phone No is 6752 3419. Uralla PracticalLynn will be running 2 Saturday Practicals on October 16 and November 6 from 9.30—4.00 in the Uralla Anglican Church Hall. The first will focus on Counselling Prac 2 exercises. Lynn also holds Tutorials in the Anglican Counselling Rooms in Armidale. The next will be Wednesday 6 October from 11am to 3pm. Lynn can be contacted by phoning 6772 9753. Tamworth PracticalThe final 10 hour Practical for 2004 will run on Friday night and all day Saturday 7—10 and 9—4.30 on the weekend 8th & 9th October. We return to the Saturday morning Tutorial on the 2nd Saturday of the month...the next one is on Nov 13. Library NewsA user friendly library system has been working well at Tamworth for several months and we hope to implement it into the other centres soon. It involves two steps: Fill in date slip & book card —place in Borrower’s file box Fill in one line in Borrower’s Register All books returned to Book Returns Box. This simple system allows easy tracking of books at all times. So no more book losses! The 2 new Library lists of the books by Author are being bound by Colleen and will be in place this month. You may request books from the larger LRCCS collection by: Fax (02) 6762 5740; Email lrccs@northnet.com.au; post to PO Box W52 Tamworth 2340; or leave a message on my phone (02) 6762 5210. Last Self Awareness Course for 2004A drought funded Know Yourself Course will run in Baradine on 16/17 and 30/31 October. From the DeskThose of us involved with LRCCS do our best to keep things running smoothly. Sometimes, even with the best will in the world, things do not go to plan. If you encounter a difficulty in dealing with some aspect of the Course do let us know so we can rectify it. Best wishes,Jenny |
