Dear All,It’s a new year. The vulnerability of so many in the path of the tsunami seems to have brought a shift in the world’s collective consciousness. It’s been 3 months since the last student newsletter and much has happened in our lives and in the life of LRCCS as well. The College continues to change and grow as we seek to provide the best counsellor training for rural people in the North West. It is interesting that we have two Sydney based institutions seeking to use the LRCCS Units for their students. They have heard about the calibre of the course and choose to by-pass other city courses for the LRCCS training. We are planning a graduation ceremony for late November when the first LRCCS degrees and diplomas will be conferred in Armidale. We will apply for reaccreditation of the course and registration of the College by June 05. This will entail long hours of work for the Academic Board and Management as we plan the direction of the College for the years ahead. We are aware that some students struggle with the Course Fees. The LRCCS Degree costs are a little more than half that of similar degrees but for some that is too much. To assist students who are unable to afford the Course Fees we have been seeking donations from Churches, Community Organisations and the NSW Government for the Student Scholarship Fund. There will be a procedure for students to apply for assistance from this fund. All Tutorial and PracticalsPlease notify the Tutors by Wednesday in the week before a Practical that you plan to attend. From the DeskPart of the December Plenary Day was given over to Essay writing but it is important to remember that the course is a Practical Counselling Course. The essays are the way you record your thoughts and learning through the course, they are not the focus of the course. I am including some notes about essay writing that Betty Yeaman has very kindly shared . Best wishes,Jenny |
