Dear All,

The 2nd Residential Practical was held on the October long weekend. This was another wonderful time at the Manilla Abbey. Ten new students participated in the Basic Counselling Skills and Art workshop while nine students worked at Level 2 skills. Lynn, Lois and I were encouraged by the committed enthusiasm of everyone there.

I spent two weekends in Sydney conducting a Know Yourself course for the staff of the Anglican College “Youthworks” in Sutherland. This is a new initiative for LRCCS. Individuals planning to work in ministry may choose one or two LRCCS units to give them increased self awareness and some basic counselling skills. There are already students enrolled from one Sydney College and Wendy is proposing a similar idea for North West NSW.

Residential Practical

Residential practicals will be held in both first and second semester in 2006.

It is requested that students are only to enrol in a Practical if they can stay for the entire program.

Graduation

The inaugural LRCCS Graduation ceremony is to be held in Armidale at the St Peter’s Cathedral Parish Centre on 26th November beginning at 2.00 pm.

We are busy preparing for the Ceremony where 6 students will be awarded the Bachelor of Counselling Studies and 13 will receive the Diploma in Counselling Studies. I would like to congratulate those students who have persisted through all the newness of this exciting new course and thank you all for helping to create the College we now have.

We would like all students to feel welcome to attend this special occasion.

You will need to let the Tamworth office know if you are attending.

Assignments on Time

It is pleasing to see that most students are pacing their study programme so that assignments are completed throughout their course. This means that they can use the feedback from one assignment to improve the next. See Lois’s words about assignments on the back of this newsletter.

From the Desk

There are a number of students who enrol after completing each Awareness Course and then do no more. This means they gain no benefit from the money they paid or their good intentions. I want to encourage you all to come to the final Tutorials for the year ... to meet us and find out what it is all about. Students who do continue with their study cite the support of other students as one of the most valuable motivators.

We are getting a LRCCS Website for the College.

www.lrccs.org.au.

The “What’s It” will go on this each month for those who indicate that they are able to access it.

“Everything changes”

Good luck with the study

Jenny
