Practical Assignments

Please note with Practical assignments it is important to practice the strategies you are to demonstrate before making the tape to be submitted for marking.  As the counsellor you need to be very clear about what you want to achieve and how you will proceed so that you can direct the client in their work.

As trainee counsellors you can practice this to get the instructions to flow easily and sound ’normal’.  I call it getting the “patter” right so the client uses the strategy but the session does not come to a grinding halt while the counsellor holds the floor with a long explanation.

Library

How do you find reference books for your next assignment?

All Libraries have Subject and Author Catalogue lists.  When looking for resources about a topic it is helpful to check these to find just what is available.  Once any book on the topic is located in the list its Dewey Number can be noted.  Finding the books with similar Dewey Numbers on the shelves will yield references on the same topic by different authors.

From the Desk

The submission for Accreditation and Registration has been finalised.  The Department of Education and Training has nominated a Panel of 6 Academics and Industry Representatives who are to meet with Dr Robyn Smyth and myself to discuss the submission on the 9th June.

Three Panel members will also visit Armidale Tutorial Rooms on Thursday to view another College site.  This contrasts to our last Panel experience when Lois and I went to Sydney to the Panel there.

I am asking for your prayers about this important stage in the development of the College.

Best wishes,

Jenny
