Dear All,

It’s been a big month for me with Manilla Practical, the Lore Days at Coledale and the HEB Panel.

The HEB Panel met on June 9th to assess the College for Reaccreditation and Registration as a Higher Education Provider.  This was the culmination of 18 months of work by many.

Seven people representing 4 Universities and PACFA came to Tamworth and met with Dr Robyn Smyth and myself.  Among other requests they wished to interview a student.  Christine Oberg very ably represented you all.  I want to record my thanks to her for that.  Also to Robyn for her assistance and to Ruth, Betty and Fran for cakes and flowers.  The good news is that they want the College to continue.  The bad news is that we will be required to resubmit and make other adjustments.

Residential Practical

This is advanced notice for the final Residential Practical will be held in Manilla on September the 8th, 9th and 10th.

Know Yourself Courses

There has been a request for the ‘Know Yourself Course’ to be run on the Central Coast.

We will conduct the course anywhere with 10 participants who can cover the Course Fees plus travel costs.

Lois and Catherine will again be conducting a Know Yourself Course in Dubbo on two weekends:  9/10Sept and 7/8Oct.

Library

For those LRCCS Librarians who use the Library sheet to record borrowings there is one change.  In future the Dewey Number of the borrowed book, not the Accession Number, is to be recorded.

From the Desk

There has been some firming up of the times students may take to complete the course in total.  These changes include:

that students are expected to complete the Bachelor within 9 years study and the Diploma within 5 years.  To take longer time students need to justify this by formal application for deferment and re-enter through the RPL process.

Courses

I was pleased to be involved with a 2 day Seminar on Cultural Lore and Domestic Violence at Coledale.  I am enclosing my report on this gathering.

A number of students were able to attend some of the time which was great learning for them.

LRCCS Students may also be interested in the Seasons for Growth which focuses on children’s grief.  The Leaders Programme is the ACS Training this year.  It will be in Moree in August 4/5.  Direct enquiries to myself or Betty in the ACS Office in Tamworth.

Best wishes,

Jenny
