Dear All,

This newsletter is being written as I leave for Melbourne to attend the PACFA Conference.  The Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) was established to set “mutually agreed upon standards of training, clinical practice and public protection across all the major counselling and psychotherapy modalities in Australia.”  The LRCCS Counselling Course meets the standards of PACFA.  All counsellors with the Anglican Counselling Service register with PACFA.  This means that the training and the counselling meet industry standards.  We encourage students to join a counselling organisation which is recognised by PACFA to give them support to develop and maintain high standards of clinical practice.

I will be presenting a paper at the conference on ‘What contributes to Effectiveness for Non indigenous counsellors when working with Indigenous Clients.’

From the Desk

Carol Mackerras, the Finance Officer, and I have been working for some months on the Application for Fee Help, which would give students a Government Loan to pay course fees.  Unfortunately it will not be processed in time for it to be presented to both houses of Parliament before the end of the year.  We may eventually be successful with the application for LRCCS students but there will be no Fee Help assistance for students at the beginning of 2007.  I know this is bad news for some of you and I am sorry about it.

Best wishes,

Jenny
