Dear All,It feels like I have been absent for a month and this is almost true. Between 2 Conferences and an excellent dose of the flu twice I have been here and gone a number of times. I am delighted with the work Fran and Nancy do between them in keeping the Tamworth College office in order. I want to acknowledge their commitment to chasing up the minutia, all the little details, which are so important yet can be so time consuming. Thanks to both of you The LRCCS Armidale Tutor Lynn, has resigned from the Anglican Counselling Service to pursue her counselling career with children in regional schools. At first I feared we would lose a great Tutor, but happily Lynn will continue with us, becoming the second external Tutor of the College. LibraryJane Lepp, the current Library volunteer in Tamworth , has been laboriously copying the LRCCS collection of 100 videos of counsellor training onto DVDs to preserve them. The copying can take up to 6 hours each. Students at the Manilla Prac suggested that we use some of these videos for Practical Training. ScholarshipsThree scholarships have been awarded to LRCCS students in the current round. Scholarships are available to any student who lives in this area and it pays half the course fees for a student’s current Unit. Students may apply for successive scholarships to enable them to proceed through the course. Even if the first application is unsuccessful do try again for it does depend who is in the draw. From the DeskWe have received a report from the Panel of Dept of Ed and Training that the College has been granted Recognition as a Training Organisation and the Diploma level of the course has been reaccredited. However the Panel has requested that a new submission be written mainly addressing the accreditation of the Degree portion of the course to ensure that the content of the level 3 section of the course meets the new Guidelines for Undergraduate Degree courses. All students who are presently enrolled in the degree programme may continue to the degree so any new measures will only affect students who enrol in the new year. Next YearI am planning for one weekend Practical next year. This will be held in Inverell on the 4th weekend in May (25th to 27th). The second Practical will be held in Manilla on the second week of the school holidays in October from Wednesday to Friday. The College Management Committee has decided it will be necessary to raise fees for existing students by 5% in the new year. After no fee rise last year this is to cover CPI. Best wishes,Jenny |
