Dear All, Since I am preparing a critiqued transcript for my current Masters Unit, I am conscious of the work you all must put in to complete your practical assignments. As I had a limited time in which to transcribe the DVD I caught what words I could and corrected with subsequent listenings instead of getting each response correct and perfect before moving on. By doing something different I shortened the transcription time considerably. How often do I continue to do things in the same old way? Now that winter has arrived it is so much harder to spend those extra hours of study . Let me encourage you to make use of short time periods to do one little task instead of lengthy cold study stints. Jenny Tutorials & Practicals You MUST ring to register your attendance at a tutorial by the Wednesday prior to the tutorial. Armidale Tutorial The June Tutorial in Armidale will be as announced in the last newsletter, June 20 at the Diocesan Registry. With Bettina 9:30 am — 4:30 pm Please call 6762 9753 to register. Inverell Tutorial The next tutorial in Inverell will be on the 18 July in the ACS rooms, 9 Ross Street, 9:30 am — 4:30 pm Please call 6722 2766 to register. Leave message on the answering machine if office is unattended Moree Tutorial The next tutorial in Moree will be held in July at a date to be announced Tamworth Tutorial The next Tamworth Tutorial will be run by Jenny (assisted by Fran) on June 13th. It will be held at 88 Bridge Street. 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Please call 6762 5210 to register. Tutorial Exchanges Students are encouraged to attend tutorials in other centres. This provides opportunity to meet and exchange with other students and allows our busy tutors to alternate monthly tutorials. Short Courses Short courses in Anger Management, Conflict Resolution and Listening for Relating are being offered throughout the region. Students are urged to participate in these where possible. Registrations should be made with the host parish for Listening for Relating and with the local ACS Centre for Anger Management and Conflict Resolution Missing Books Four books sent down from Inverell were placed on the librarian’s desk as a donation. Unfortunately we do not know the names of the three that disappeared before they were catalogued, If you have any knowledge of their whereabouts, would you please get in touch with the Tamworth office on 6762 5210 Electronic What’s It We have joined the 21st century! Some of our students are already receiving their What’s It by email If you would like to join them and save the trees (and our stamps) just let us know the email address you would like it sent to. Course Accreditation After attending two workshops about making application for registration of the course and the College with VETAB I am about to begin the task of mapping the competencies between the College Diploma course and the generic Diploma in Counselling . Kathryn will be organising and updating the College Policies and Procedures and the Student Handbook. I have asked some individuals for help with these tasks. If any of you have any knowledge or skill in this area and would like to assist, please let us know. Further Qualification Possibilities I have had recent discussions with Nicky Locke at St Mark’s College in Canberra about using the subjects in the old LRCCS Degree course to offer an Advanced Diploma in partnership with St Mark’s. This would mean that the course material would continue to be used and students could progress on past the Diploma. enabling them to meet PACFA training standards. These discussions with St Mark’s are in their early stages so please pray for a satisfactory outcome. |
