Dear All,

It’s been a month with some ups and some downs.

On a positive note we have progressed our preparation to apply for Registration as an RTO. We have enlisted the assistance of several well qualified people, some of whom happen to have been students, to assist with preparation, delivery and assessment of the course.

On a sad note I received the resignation of Dr Robyn Smyth from the College Board due to personal responsibilities. Since her discovery of the Introductory Know Yourself Course Rob has been a stalwart in her support of the College. She was the first Chair person of the Academic Board, wrote the second College submission for accreditation as well as assisting with staff training and the support of us all. I will miss her professionalism and good sense.

Scholarship Time Again

It’s time to get applications in for scholarships. Information and application forms are available on the website www.lrccs.org.au or at our office. Applications are assessed on student location and greatest need so please make sure to provide as much detail as possible. We strongly recommended that you complete the Income and Expenditure section to assist the committee in processing the form. Applications close 31 August, 2009.

Manilla Residential

Residential dates for The Abbey at Manilla have been set for 14th,15th & 16th October. This is an opportunity for all our students to get together and have significant input from tutors and guest speakers In addition, Jenny will schedule a tutorial for the weekend after the residential for the benefit of those who come from great distances and do not normally have the opportunity for practice sessions, demonstrations, and discussions with other students

***. Please note that the dates for the residential now include the 14th as well as the 15th and 16th of October as mentioned in the last newsletter (Mea culpa, Nancy)

Graduation

Graduation has been set for 12th September at St. Peter’s in Armidale, so mark that date on your calendar. There will be no tutorial in Tamworth for September because of the graduation

Tutorials

There is an increasingly strong emphasis on Practical experience and training for Counsellors in the training guidelines e.g PACFA set 350 practical hours as the minimum for a degree. Considerable effort is made by the College Tutors to ensure that Tutorials are offered regularly throughout the region. If students do not avail themselves of the practical opportunities provided the number of sessions offered will be less.

E-Mail Address

We are still having trouble re establishing an e-mail service after the relocation of the Administration of the Counselling Service to Denne Street. There will probably continue to be some delay in the email traffic until it is sorted. Please note - We now have a new Postal Address - PO Box 3764, West Tamworth 2340

Office Hours

Carolyn asked me to remind you all that the office hours are between 9.00 am until 12noon each day. While there may be staff available at other times, you may need to leave a message with your number and a convenient time to return your call.
